ODISSEE Hackathon
ASTRON
Goal
The ODISSEE project is nearing its mid-term review. To improve collaboration between project partners, and the end-users in radio astronomy, we have organised the first ODISSEE hackathon. Two topics of interest will be tackled during this four day event:
- Accelerating software components in a typical radio astronomy pipeline using accelerators (i.e. GPUs), while monitoring the energy consumption of these codes, and
- Demonstrate the networking stack on the NextSilicon Maverick 2 to work for a demo application to be determined.
This will be an in-person meeting hosted by ASTRON, in Dwingeloo the Netherlands.
Getting to ASTRON
ASTRON is located near Dwingeloo, the Netherlands. This is roughly 140 km from Amsterdam, in the beautiful national park "Dwingelderveld". For information on how to get to ASTRON, please refer to the dedicated page on ASTRON's website.
Hotels and lodging
We have secured a block booking at Hotel "De Borken", which is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute bicycle ride from ASTRON.
Fletcher Landhotel De Borken - Euro 101,50 / night incl breakfast and taxes (block booking available until 20 May)
We also have a couple of rooms available in the ASTRON guesthouse. These are on the premises, but do not offer the same level of comfort one would expect from a hotel room (clean and comfortable, but spartan). Euro 50,00 / night (no food available but fully equipped kitchen at your disposal) and free bike rental (order breakfast in ASTRON canteen , available at 08.30)
For both, please contact rd-secretariat@astron.nl (attn. Sandra) for bookings.
Food and drink
We plan to cater the entire hackathon, so no need to worry about this. Do make sure to inform us of any allergies.
What to bring
Please make sure to bring a laptop with your prefered development tools and chargers. We plan to provide some screens with keyboards and USB-C docking stations for use during the week. Network connectivity will also be provided. Users with eduroam will be able to connect using their own credentials.
