The school will take place at ASTRON Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy in Dwingeloo, the Netherlands. www.astron.nl
Dwingeloo is in the north-east of the Netherlands, and can be reached in about 20 minutes by either private car or taxi from Hoogeveen railway station. From Amsterdam Schiphol airport to Hoogeveen takes 1h+45min by train.

Participants are expected to arrive on Sunday 14 April and leave on Friday 19 April.
ACCOMMODATION
Please make your own reservation before 1 February 2024!
The participants will be accommodated at two hotels: in Dwingeloo, and in Ruinen. The block reservations have expired. We will arrange bus transportation between the hotels and to/from ASTRON.
- Note: this hotel Wesseling is now fully booked! Hotel Wesseling in Dwingeloo https://www.hotelwesseling.nl/en/ This hotel is 3.5 kilometres from ASTRON. The hotel has a restaurant.
- Hotel De Stobbe in Ruinen https://stobbe.nl/ This hotel is 13 kilometres from ASTRON. The hotel has a restaurant and a swimming pool.
Participants are requested to make and pay for their own hotel room reservation. Due to some limitations in available rooms, participants are recommended to share rooms.
How to make hotel reservation before 1 February 2024:
- Note: this hotel is now fully booked! For hotel Wesseling (19 rooms reserved): you can send an email to info@hotelwesseling.nl, mentioning the code 'ASTRON-LOFAR'.
- The price of a room for single or double use is Eur 70 per night excluding breakfast, plus 1,80 Euros tax per person per night
- For hotel De Stobbe (29 rooms reserved): the block reservation has expired. New bookings are on the basis of availability and prices may be different. Note that the room needs to be paid in advance. The hotel will confirm with you direct.
- The price of a room for single use including breakfast, swimming pool and sauna is Eur 95 per night plus some small tax per night
- The price of a room for double use including breakfast(s), swimming pool and sauna is Eur 145 per night plus some small tax per night.
TRANSPORT
Participants are expected to arrive on Sunday 14 April and leave on Friday 19 April. As mentioned, we will arrange bus transportation from/to the hotels during the school.
For arrival and departure days:
- On Sunday 14 April we will arrange shuttle buses from railway station Hoogeveen to hotel Wesseling and hotel De Stobbe.
- On Friday 19 April at 14:00 CET we will arrange buses to ASTRON and from ASTRON to the railway station in Hoogeveen. Arrival Hoogeveen: 14:30 CET.
The shuttle buses on Sunday will depart from Hoogeveen railway station at 15:00 / 17:00 / 18:30 CET.
Please email lofarschool@astron.nl about your arrival time in Hoogeveen. See the email from lofarschool@astron.nl of 6 March about this.
If you arrive outside the bus times, we can pre-book a taxi for you. Note that there are no taxi's waiting at Hoogeveen railway station.
This taxi is at your own costs, the price is 42,58 Euros including VAT for both Hoogeveen-Dwingeloo and Hoogeveen-Ruinen.

Important:
Before boarding the train, you must always check in with your ticket or debit card (or OV chipkaart if you have this). You can do this at a pole or gate at the entrance to the station. Don’t forget to check out when you are leaving the train!
