Collaboration Across Communities: Introduction, plan for the day (R. Bolton/M. Wise) - - - - - - - - - This morning session is an open forum to facilitate community input into the design of future scientific e-infrastructures. It is open to all scientific communities and data intensive disciplines. The aim of the forum is to discuss existing practices across different research areas in order to help make informed choices about the design of new facilities based on broad community experience. The proposed forum builds on initial discussions at the WLCG pre-GBD Meeting in CERN and the cross-community forum held at the annual WLCG meeting in Manchester. 30m

20 October morning Session: Open Forum on AAAI: - - - - - - - - - - - - - Issues around the authentication and authorization processes for shared compute infrastructure were raised as a potential area for change at the annual meeting of the Worldwide LHC Compute Grid (WLCG) earlier this year. This Open Forum on AAAI in scientific computing is intended to provide a structured discussion on the pros and cons of existing mechanisms, the underlying reasons for their original implementation and to speculate on the potential for change in this area in the near future. It is intended to draw on community experience from across particle physics, astronomy and other disciplines.

20 October morning Session: Open Forum on Test Frameworks: - - - - - - - - - - - - - The need for a strategy around test frameworks for new compute infrastructure is a crucial element of any design process for a distributed compute infrastructure. This Open Forum on test frameworks aims to draw on the experience of various communities across scientific research disciplines to build a library of best practice, as well as to avoid repeating unsuccessful deployments.
